Professor Philip Rasico (Professor of Spanish & Catalan Linguistics, Department of Spanish and Portuguese) will discuss the past, present, and future of the people of Catalonia – an ancient Western European people with a distinct Romance language and cultural tradition, whose political identity dates from the 9th century and has lacked political independence since 1714.
