The offering of unspecified labor\u2014for either a specific period of time, or an open-ended period \u2013 <strong>is prohibited<\/strong>.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>Offering services\u00a0that require a license (haircuts, manicures, massages, etc.), <strong>is prohibited<\/strong>, as is the offering of services that are in violation of the law or University policy, and services that potentially endanger the health, safety, or well-being of students or others;<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;auction&#8221; of\u00a0individuals <strong>is prohibited<\/strong>, as is the auction of unspecified services of individuals (i.e. Date Auctions);<\/li>\n<li>Advertising and promotional materials for service sales and auctions must list the services on offer;<\/li>\n<li>Advertising and promotional materials must provide the name of the organization(s) receiving the funds raised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">General Funds for the Group<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registered\u00a0student organizations may engage in the distribution of items for a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">suggested donation<\/span><\/strong> when the funds raised are for the use of the organization in its regular activities (including philanthropic efforts) and are deposited into the organization\u2019s University account. <u>Registered Student Organizations that receive Student Services Fee (SSF) may charge no more than $5 for event attendance, with the exception of Rites of Spring, Commodore Quake and Lights on the Lawn;<\/u><\/li>\n<li><em>Merchandise <\/em>(t-shirts, pens, sunglasses, etc.)\n<ul>\n<li>Must be offered for suggested donation; some groups offer tickets at different values\u00a0based on whether you receive a t-shirt with the purchase;<\/li>\n<li>If the 国产原创\u00a0mark is printed in any way, must be approved through\u00a0<a style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;background-color: #ffffff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/licensing\/licensing.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trademark and Licensing<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Students must use an <a style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;background-color: #ffffff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/communications\/trademark-licensing\/internal-campus-suppliers.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approved vendor<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>国产原创\u00a0University will not approve the use of its name or marks to promote the following products: tobacco, controlled substances, sexually oriented products, alcohol, religious products, bathroom articles, or games of chance;<\/li>\n<li><em style=\"font-size: 1.2rem\">Note<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem\">:\u00a0If you use Student Services Fee funding to purchase t-shirts for raise funds for an outside organization, you can only donate the amount raised <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.2rem\">over the amount spent <\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem\">in Student Services Fee funding.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"fundraisingoffcampus\"><\/a>Fundraising Off Campus<\/h2>\n<p>All Student OFF campus fundraising efforts must be approved by the Dean of Students or designee and the Offices of Annual Giving, Gift and Donor Services, or Corporate and Foundation Relations as needed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Local Restaurants<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundraising events in limited service restaurants (i.e. bars), as defined by Tennessee statutes, or at any location where money is collected at the door, or through any other arrangement, with an establishment involving financial transactions that circumvent the University\u2019s accounting system, <strong>are prohibited<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Partnerships\u00a0with other restaurants to benefit student orgs <strong>is allowed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Corporations<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Office of <a href=\"https:\/\/giving.vanderbilt.edu\/ways-to-give\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Annual Giving<\/a> helps to determine whether funds donated are gifts to 国产原创 (tax deductible) or not based on whether the company receives a benefit for participating. The Office of Annual Giving also processes gifts to 国产原创 and receives checks for student organizations. The memo must mention the RSO&#8217;s name and center number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"dosanddonts\"><\/a>Fundraising Dos and Don&#8217;ts<\/h2>\n<p>These regulations apply to the sale or distribution of goods and services, as well as the solicitation for, promotion of, and advertising of any item, program, charity, or service.<\/p>\n<h6>DO<\/h6>\n<p><strong>General Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> comply with local licensing laws and University trademark and licensing policies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> get authorization from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration prior to the sale or newspapers and newsletters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> sell or solicit sale of event tickets by members of a registered student organization<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> distribute items for a suggested donation as long as the funds raised are for the use of the organization and are deposited into the organization\u2019s University account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Co-Sponsorship funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> prepare budget to allocate funds for specific needs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> participate in the Student Organization Fund allocation process<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> contact each group or office (VSG, VPB, and select departments within the Dean of Students Office) separately to apply for co-sponsorship funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dues, Ticket Sales, and On-Campus Fundraisers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> charge membership dues and admission to events (no more than $5 for event attendance)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> hold drawings for door prizes awarded to ticket-holding participants at an event<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> secure approval from Dean of Students to sell or deliver items door-to-door in campus residences<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> make arrangements with the Sarratt Box Office for Ticketmaster Setup to sell event tickets using the Commodore Card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Service Auctions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> specify specific services offered<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> list the services on offer and the name of the organization receiving the funds in advertising and promotional materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Off- Campus Fundraising- Area Merchants and Corporate Sponsors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> obtain authorization from Student Organizations, Leadership, and Service if the donation or gift is worth less than $1000, and the contribution must be sent through the Office of Gift Processing; if it is worth more than $1000, authorization must be obtained by the Office of Annual Giving, and the contribution must be sent through the Office of Gift Processing<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> acknowledge the assistance or contribution of co-sponsoring merchants or corporations in programs, banners, displays, or event memorabilia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> develop a written co-sponsorship agreement<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> submit net funds to the charity<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> make financial reports of expenses, income, donations, sales, and disbursement available for governing body<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do<\/strong> collect admission fees for fun runs and walks, performances, drawings for door prizes, or concerts, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>DON\u2019T<\/h6>\n<p><strong>General Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> use 国产原创 property (including the Commons Center, the Student Life Center and related spaces, a post office box, and data network) for any non-University related business or activities<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> door-to-door solicit in residential areas, except when rarely granted written permission by the Dean of Students office.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> have fundraising events in \u201climited service restaurants\u201d (bars) or any location where money is collected at the door or any situation that involves an establishment handling financial transactions that circumvent the University\u2019s accounting system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Co-sponsorship funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> approach offices outside the scope of the Dean of Students, more than one department within the Dean of Students operation, academic departments, or other programs across the University for financial co-sponsorships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dues, Ticket Sales, and On-Campus Fundraisers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> sell tickets for a raffle or lottery<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> use tobacco, alcohol, or promotional items for these products for action or any other fundraising activity<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t<\/strong> sponsor the sale of goods or services to students on behalf of a non-国产原创 commercial enterprise unless the activities is related to a traditional 国产原创 event (eg.
