  {"id":918,"date":"2015-02-05T22:21:23","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T22:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/studentorgs\/?page_id=918"},"modified":"2026-03-03T21:02:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T03:02:52","slug":"studentorganizationfund","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/studentorgs\/finances\/studentorganizationfund\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Organization Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Student Organization Fund Application<\/h1>\n<h2><em>Process<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The 2026 Student Organizations Funding Application is now open<\/strong>.\u00a0 The undergraduate application<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong> has been extended and will now close on March 5 at 11:59 pm<span style=\"color: #000000\">. <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">T<\/span><\/span>he graduate\/professional application will close on <strong>March 6 at 11:59pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Students are encouraged to <a href=\"https:\/\/anchorlink.vanderbilt.edu\/submitter\/form\/start\/711874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apply to join the Student Organization Fund Subcommittee<\/a> to assist with reviewing applications and recommendations.\u00a0 This application closes on Feb 13.<\/p>\n<p>In order to access the Student Organization Funding application, first login to your Anchor Link account. Then, go to your organization\u2019s Anchor Link page and click on \u201cManage Organization\u201d in the top right corner. Once you have done that, navigate to the \u201cFinance\u201d tab. You will then see a blue button in the top right corner called \u201cCreate New Request\u201d, click on that and then select \u201cCreate Budget Request\u201d. Here you will find the \u201c2026-27 Student Organization Fund Request\u201d budget form. <strong>Please note that there are two separate forms for undergraduate and graduate\/professional organizations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All the necessary instructions are provided right on that page, so please make sure you read those before moving forward. Only organization presidents or treasurers should be completing and submitting the form.<\/p>\n<p>Please remember this application is a budget proposal for the upcoming year (2026-2027). We ask that you fill out the form assuming your organization will be able to conduct all events as normal in the upcoming year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 19.2px\">Undergraduate and graduate\/<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 19.2px\"><b>professional<\/b><\/span><b style=\"font-size: 19.2px\"> Registered<\/b><b> Student <\/b><span style=\"font-size: 19.2px\"><b>Organizations<\/b><\/span><b> (RSOs) are eligible to apply for Student Organization Funds in the spring semester of each academic year<\/b>;<\/li>\n<li>The funding granted in the spring is applicable the following academic year (year in which the funding would be used);<\/li>\n<li>Information about the Student Organization Fund can be requested by e-mailing <a href=\"mailto:studentservicesfee@vanderbilt.edu\">studentservicesfee@vanderbilt.edu<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Groups are required to keep detailed records (including tracking attendance through Anchor Link events) of each expenditure for each event in order to apply for Student Organization Funds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><em>Distribution<\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Student Organization Funds are distributed to <strong>RSOs<\/strong> that received an allocation from the Student Organization Funding Committee;<\/li>\n<li>Organizations receive their full allocation in the fall semester.\u00a0 Only one allocation will be made this year.<\/li>\n<li>Please refer to the asynchronous Treasurer Training for information and guidance on spending.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>NOTE:<\/em> Funding can only be distributed to student organizations with a\u00a0task number.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><em>Criteria<\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The student organization must be an RSO (not a student-led department, initiative or other kind of Non-RSO).<\/li>\n<li>In general, Student Organization Funding is allocated to student organizations that sponsor events open to the entire campus;<\/li>\n<li>For more detailed criteria, go to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/anchorlink.vanderbilt.edu\/actioncenter\/organization\/studentservicesfee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student Organization Fund Anchor Link Page<\/a>\u00a0and view the \u201cDocuments\u201d section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><em>Restrictions <\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Requests to purchase or supply alcohol or tobacco to students;<\/li>\n<li>Requests for programs, which exclude participation or membership to segments of the 国产原创 population, or where certain groups of students are not fully included in the event;<\/li>\n<li>Requests to fund charitable donations or expenses intended to directly and solely benefit non-国产原创 students or agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Requests for funding to directly maintain or establish a reserve or cover another RSO&#8217;s financial deficit;<\/li>\n<li>Up to $3,000 may be used for internal operational expenses (Printing, membership t-shirts, retreats, GBM food, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Requests to fund travel, unless it is core to the mission of the organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><em>Suggestions to reduce operational expenses and maximize future Student Organization Funding<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain an ongoing record of expenses and revenues for your organization throughout the year. This will make completing the application easier, as well as help you properly budget each year. Your finances will be updated in Anchor Link on a weekly basis.<\/li>\n<li>There are plenty of spaces to meet on campus that can be reserved free of charge, including meeting rooms and classrooms. Contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/studentcenters\/\">Student Centers<\/a> to reserve space.<\/li>\n<li>Some less costly advertising options are: VSG Newsletter, Instagram and other social media.<\/li>\n<li>Spend responsibly. Be sure you get multiple quotes to get the best pricing.<\/li>\n<li>Fundraise throughout the year and utilize outside sources of revenue to fund long-term purchasing goals.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with other student organizations whose initiatives may align with your own.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare for next year\u2019s application process by saving all receipts and keeping a running total of event costs.<\/li>\n<li>Organizations are required to input all events in Anchor Link and track attendance at those events. Untracked attendance for events or programs that use SOF funds may result in losing the opportunity for SOF funding in the future.
