The mansion was significantly bigger than the homes built for the first faculty (which included the existing Center for Health Services building and the Vaughn Home<\/a>). This lead to some unhappiness on the part of the faculty at that time. After McTyeire’s death, his home became the chancellor’s residence.<\/p>\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-115\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/vu-URL\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/237\/2018\/03\/19221912\/walk-to-chancellors-july-1948.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"852\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/vu-URL\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/237\/2018\/03\/19221912\/walk-to-chancellors-july-1948.jpg 852w, https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/vu-URL\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/237\/2018\/03\/19221912\/walk-to-chancellors-july-1948-300x131.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.vanderbilt.edu\/vu-URL\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/237\/2018\/03\/19221912\/walk-to-chancellors-july-1948-768x334.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 852px) 100vw, 852px\" \/>
\nAerial photo in 1948. As the hospital grew through repeated additions, the chancellor’s residence became more and more crowded until finally it was demolished in the 1960’s.
