\nBioinspired Heart Valve Design: A Tale of Medical Device Development and Entrepreneurship<\/p>\n
\nCurrent heart valve replacement technologies fail to address important limitations affecting patient outcomes such as the need for blood-thinning medications, long-term durability, and the need for growth in younger patients. Biomimetic scaffolds and unique manufacturing processes can potentially address these important shortfalls, but must be successfully transitioned from the academic to the industrial environment to do so. This talk will center around the experiences gained and lessons learned from taking a revolutionary heart valve device that requires no anticoagulation and boasts improved durability from the academic bench to a start-up environment on the way to commercializing a product.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
