Recent developments in imaging technology and nanomaterials offer the potential to improve patient outcomes following these minimally invasive catheter-directed procedures. Developing approaches for MRI monitoring of selective drug delivery, radioembolization, and bacteriolytic therapy will be described along with pre-clinical studies demonstrating these methods in tumor models.

Bio:
Andrew Larson received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University in 1999. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2002 and 2004, respectively, specializing in cardiovascular MRI. Much of his doctoral work was performed as a fellow with the NHLBI Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics. Currently, Dr. Larson is a Professor of Radiology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His research is focused upon the development and validation of imaging techniques for intra-procedural guidance of interventional procedures targeting liver cancer. Dr. Larson has served as PI for numerous NIH and industry grants and served as principle advisor to trainees receiving prestigious awards from the NIH, RSNA, SIR, and HHMI. Dr. Larson also currently serves as the director of the Center for Translational Imaging, a shared resource core at NWU.

VISE Fall Seminar to be led by Andrew Larson, PhD Professor of Radiology and Electrical Engineering, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University Date: Thursday, November 16, 2017 Location: Stevenson Center 5326 Time: 12:10 p.m. start, Noon lunch Title: Development of Image-Guided Therapies for Liver Cancer Abstract: Image-guided loco-regional therapies are playing an increasingly critical…

[12
296,62,235,297,231,162

https://cdn.vanderbilt.edu/vu-URL/wp-content/uploads/sites/193/2017/11/19170845/Larson_Photo_A-copy.jpg
