This week we are taking a break from the Insights series to let you know about a funding opportunity. The Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP), with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce a call for proposals for small grants for research on discrimination, marginality, gender, and democracy in Latin America.

Eligible applicants are faculty members, researchers, and graduate students in any country whose work is related to democratization in Latin America and who are conducting research projects in recognized academic or research institutions. The project must use as its basis data from the LAPOP AmericasBarometer.

The application deadline is May 1, 2011. Application materials and the call for proposals are below. Please contact Amy Erica Smith for further information at amy.e.smith@vanderbilt.edu.

Esta semana realizamos una pausa en la serie Perspectivas para informarle sobre la oportunidad de conseguir una beca.听 El Proyecto de Opini贸n P煤blica de Am茅rica Latina (LAPOP), con el apoyo econ贸mico de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID), llama a una convocatoria de becas dirigidas a proyectos de investigaci贸n sobre discriminaci贸n, marginalidad, g茅nero y democracia en Am茅rica Latina.

Las becas est谩n abiertas a profesores, investigadores y estudiantes de posgrado de todo el mundo, cuyos trabajos est谩n relacionados con el tema de democratizaci贸n en Am茅rica Latina, y que est茅n desarrollando proyectos de investigaci贸n en instituciones acad茅micas y de investigaci贸n reconocidas. Los proyectos deber谩n usar como base fundamental los datos del Bar贸metro de las Am茅ricas.
